We are excited to announce the next round of KYD Mentors for July–November 2026!

A KYD mentorship will leave you inspired, motivated and armed with many new skills to take your manuscript from a work-in-progress to submission-ready. Meet the experienced and award-winning authors and teachers who will be mentoring for this round:

  • Amal Awad
  • Murray Middleton
  • Omar Musa
  • Peter Papathanasiou
  • Rebecca Starford
  • Jayne Tuttle
  • Lyn Yeowart

The KYD Mentors Program is a comprehensive and structured editorial mentorship program designed to support early-career writers in the development of a long-form work of fiction or non-fiction. Writers across Australia can apply to work with a mentor of their choice over a five-month period. KYD Mentors are experienced, award-winning authors, editors and teachers, with valuable insights into both the publishing industry and the creative regime required to craft a long-form manuscript.

A mentorship consists of close reading and reporting on your work-in-progress (10–12,000 words at a time, totalling up to 60,000 words), along with five consultations in-person, over the phone or on Zoom over the five-month period.

Head to our Mentors Program page below to find out more about this round of mentors and how to apply.
