Kill Your Darlings (KYD) is looking for a confident, creative, book-loving content maker to expand our audiences across social media. 

Working closely with our head of digital strategy and editorial team, you will plan, film and edit short-form video and social content for the KYD social media channels. This role is ideal for someone starting out in content creation or digital marketing who is eager to build skills, experiment with new ideas and learn about digital audiences in the Australian literary industry. 

Responsibilities:
●Plan, shoot and edit social content—including Reels, TikToks and behind-the-scenes footage—for use across KYD’s organic and paid platforms
●Be the on-camera host for short videos—you must be proficient in self-filming and appearing in content, as necessary
●Create authentic, story-driven content using your phone
●Write captions and copy for social media, email and web posts
●Keep across BookTok, Instagram and broader social trends
●Review performance insights with the head of digital strategy 

Who you are:
●Loves Australian books, publishing and storytelling 
●Well-spoken, articulate and confident on camera
●Lives on the ‘For You’ page and loves creating content that engages and entertains
●Enjoys experimenting with video, editing and social trends
●Proficient with video editing software
●Reliable, organised and open to learning 
●Responds well to feedback, good at teamwork

You don’t need years of experience—we’re more interested in your enthusiasm, ideas and willingness to grow into the role. 

Details:
Position title: Content Creator
Location: Remote, but only open to applicants located in Australia. 
Payment: $32 per hour, min. 25 hours per calendar month
Start date: January 2026
