Entries to the KYD School Writing Prize are now open! This year, we are seeking entries from students that explore the idea of ‘Connection’.
We are looking for writing that responds to this theme as widely and creatively as possible in the following genres:
- Short fiction
- Essays
- Personal reflections
- Memoir and biography
- Genre pieces (fantasy, sci-fi, historical, romance, crime)
The Prize is designed to sit within students’ current workload—whether for assessment, exam preparation, their project-based learning model or an extra-curricular writing club.
The winning student will receive a $500 cash prize, publication in KYD and an invitation to perform at the Wheeler Centre Teen Gala.
Entries for the prize will close at 5pm (AEST) Friday 23 August.
The Prize is designed to sit within students’ current workload—whether for assessment, exam preparation, their project-based learning model or an extra-curricular writing club.
The Prize aims to develop a sustained and enjoyable writing practice for students.
Please note: The School Writing Prize is open exclusively to KYD School Members. There is no additional entry fee. School Members also receive free access to 2 x 45-minute online writing courses in fiction and non-fiction designed to assist teachers in preparing their students for the Prize.
