The KYD Creative Non-Fiction Essay Prize is back for 2023!
Save the date: Entries for the 2023 prize will open at 10am AEST, Monday, 12 June and close at 11:59pm AEST, Sunday, 23 July 2023.
We will be seeking creative non-fiction essays between 2500 and 3500 words, on any subject and in any style (such as memoir, commentary, cultural criticism, reportage etc.).
The 2023 prize will be judged by Caitlin McGregor, winner of the 2022 prize, in collaboration with KYD staff. Read Caitlin’s essay ‘Hungry Little DisHuman Beings’ here.
First prize is $3000, with two runner-up prizes of $1000 each. The winner and runners-up will be notified and published on the KYD website in late August.
Designed to celebrate and showcase outstanding and illuminating non-fiction writing, the 2022 inaugural prize attracted 245 entries from around Australia, across a broad range of topics and styles.
