Kill Your Darlings is a proudly independent online magazine. Our mission remains to shake up the literary landscape, publish bold and entertaining articles on Australian culture and society, grow a community of writers and create a space for them to share their literary work and ideas. Since we launched in 2009, KYD magazine has expanded into a supportive publishing network that now includes a broad program of new writing courses, mentor programs, early-career writing awards, an annual short story anthology, and more.
None of this would have been possible without our members. Support from our members means KYD can continue to grow our organisation—and grow the opportunities for Australian writers to develop, publish and promote their work to the highest standards.
Like many arts organisations, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected our business. We are a small team who think big, but we do operate on very tight budgets. In the often-precarious world of independent publishing and arts funding, maintaining KYD’s financial security can be a challenge.
So today we are going big and bold, and launching our first ever Subscriberthon! This is a way for us to welcome new members—as well as say thank you to our current supporters.
