Dear KYD readers,

Like many others in the arts and cultural industries, we’re making changes to our operations in the face of a rapidly evolving global health emergency. The safety and health of our staff and patrons is our paramount concern. We’ve cancelled all our in-person events and workshops for the coming months, and our staff will be working remotely for the foreseeable future.

In these strange and uncertain times we’re more committed than ever to supporting writers and bringing readers high-quality writing on arts, culture and society. We’ll all need engaging, entertaining and thought-provoking things to read over the coming weeks and months, and our team will be working hard (from home!) to keep bringing you excellent content and paid opportunities for writers.

The KYD Mentors Program, our various writing awards and our podcast will all continue to operate as usual. While all our in-person workshops have been cancelled, we have a wide range of workshops available online for writers across the country. These self-directed workshops can be completed in your own time, at your own pace, from anywhere with an internet connection.

The next months will be extremely challenging for authors, booksellers, publishers and many others in our literary community. Please support them with online orders and subscriptions if you’re able to, or tune in as events are streamed online. If you’d like to support KYD you can do so by subscribing, purchasing a copy of our first short story anthology or simply continuing to read and share the work we publish.

For up-to-date health information on COVID-19 visit the Department of Health and Human Services website.

We hope you keep well and safe in the coming months.
