Short Fiction with A.S. Patrić: A KYD Writers Workshop (Melbourne)
Join Miles Franklin Award-winner A.S. Patrić in this unique writing course all about short fiction.
Though short stories can be the beginning point in a writer’s life, the short form is often the culmination of a career in literature too. Short stories afford us a unique perspective into the foundational elements of literary technique, but they can also provide a better understanding of how our developing craft evolves into art.
This course will guide writers towards a practical approach for developing an individual literary process and a functional daily practice. Participants will examine their own stories through exercises that will enable them to start on a new project, whether it’s a single story, a longer collection or any other literary endeavour. You will come away from this course with a firmer understanding of the fundamental principles of storytelling and the ever-evolving art of narrative expression.
Please bring your laptop or a writing pad, and – if you wish – your special work-in-progress. This will be a day of writing, reflection and discussion, led by an experienced, award-winning writer.
