Getting Published: A KYD Writers Workshop (Melbourne)
Completing a first draft is often only the beginning of a journey to publication. What follows is the crucial process of redrafting your manuscript. And then where do you send your work and to whom?
This day-long workshop, taught by editor and KYD publishing director Rebecca Starford, is designed to open doors and shine lights on everything you need to know about preparing your work for publication, along with the crucial process of getting it into the hands of publishers and agents.
Through a series of dynamic writing exercises, personal feedback and key insights into the creative practice, this workshop will review the components that make up a manuscript (including character, plot, dialogue, place and structure), and help you develop strategies to effectively improve and expand on these elements of your story.
Please bring your laptop or a writing pad, and – if you wish – your special work-in-progress. This will be a day of intensive writing, reflection and discussion, led by an experienced publishing industry professional.
