Emma Michelle is a Canberra-born Melbourne writer. Her forthcoming debut novel 'Rare Birds' examines contemporary ideas surrounding mental health, femininity, and what it’s like to be nineteen. As a researcher she is interested in the work of J.D. Salinger, in particular his depictions of unresolved grief and contribution to trauma narratives. In 2016 she began a Master of Arts at the University of Melbourne to further her research in this area.
