Kill Your Darlings is delighted to once again offer the week-long KYD/Varuna Copyright Agency Fellowship to shortlisted writers in our 2020 Unpublished Manuscript Award.  

The fellowship will take place at Varuna, the Writers’ House, in the Blue Mountains, from Monday, 31 August to Sunday, 6 September. The winner of the 2020 KYD Unpublished Manuscript Award will be announced after the fellowship.

The fellowship includes the following components:

• 6 nights’ accommodation and all meals at the historic Varuna
• Intensive and personalised editorial mentoring with KYD publishing director, Rebecca Starford, for the duration of the fellowship
• Daily workshopping with other shortlisted writers
• Additional professional development services facilitated by Varuna

The winner of the KYD Unpublished Manuscript Award will also receive the cash prize of $4000.

KYD publishing director Rebecca Starford, 2019 KYDUMA winner Sam van Zweden and Picador publisher Mathilda Imlah will judge the award.

Entries for the 2020 ​KYD Unpublished Manuscript Award will open on Monday, 2 March 2020 and close at midnight AEST Thursday 30 April 2020. To find out more about the Award, click here.
