Here at KYD we love our wonderful members – you are the reason we can continue to publish great Australian writing. That’s why, to say thanks for your support, we’re giving Melbourne-based KYD Members the chance to win one of 5 double passes to see Skate Kitchen, opening at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) on 17 January.

Introverted, naïve teen Camille is both fed up with the boys’ club vibe at her local skate park and with her worried mother’s insistence that she give up her deck following a nasty accident. When the carefree and achingly cool girls of Skate Kitchen post an open-invite to a session, Camille’s world is cast wide open as the skaters welcome her into the fold.

Skate Kitchen is writer and director Crystal Moselle’s second feature after Sundance-favourite The Wolfpack. Featuring skateboarding star Rachelle Vinberg alongside Jaden Smith, Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange is the New Black) and the real-life skate collective that lends the film its name, Skate Kitchen is a uniquely authentic and fiercely feminist coming-of-age tale.

Current members: to enter, simply email your name and the session you’d like to attend (between 30 January and 6 Feb, full details here) to [email protected] with the subject line ‘Skate Kitchen’.

If you’re not yet a KYD Member but would like to become one, simply purchase a new KYD Membership from just $17.50 and email your entry to us.

Entries close midnight AEDT Monday 28 January 2019.
