Kill Your Darlings seeks a Publication Manager to join our team. This is a part time (0.4) position based in our Melbourne office.
KYD is one of Australia’s most respected and influential online literary magazines, publishing daily curated content, as well as facilitating events, workshops, podcasts, writing competitions and awards across Australia. Based in Melbourne, the magazine comprises of six other part-time staff.
An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced and ambitious person with a strong background in arts industry and administration to undertake the role of Publication Manager.
Reporting to the Publishing Directors, the Publication Manager is responsible for strategic membership growth and associated initiatives, applications to funding bodies and acquittal of grants, and the creation of new partnership opportunities with industry and arts institutions.
The Publication Manager will take on financial and budgetary responsibilities, liaising with the accounts team and ensuring key performance indicators are met across all of KYD’s operations. The Publication Manager will also liaise and work with the Editor to enable KYD to meet key business and creative objectives.
An ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive, resourceful and innovative approach to juggling a broad range of tasks and administrative responsibilities. They will be able to work independently, be self-directed, proactive and be a strong problem solver. Candidates must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the Australian publishing industry, in particular the production and aims of literary magazines. Previous industry experience in an arts management role is strongly preferred, but not essential. Above all, the successful candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities, be hard-working, flexible and good-humoured, and enjoy the challenge of working for a small but nimble independent arts organisation.
This is a paid position, with six weeks annual leave. Salary to be negotiated with successful candidate.
