We’re thrilled to announce December’s KYD Book Club pick: Eimear McBride’s A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing.
McBride’s extraordinary debut novel traces the impact of childhood trauma, sexuality and tangled family dynamics over the course of one girl’s youth. Its experimental narrative voice has been described as ‘stream of unconsciousness’.
A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing recently won the inaugural Goldsmiths Prize, awarded to fiction which ‘opens up new possibilities for the novel form’. In announcing their decision, the judges praised McBride’s writing as ‘boldly original and utterly compelling’.
Join Social Media Coordinator Veronica Sullivan and bookseller Fay Helfenbaum on Wednesday 18th December, 3:00pm-4:00pm, to discuss this unconventional novel. Tweet at @kyd_journal and follow through #kydbookclub.
